I seem to find myself in a constant flux between carrying a diaper bag and carrying a regular purse. On highly chaotic days, I carry both. We’re in that awkward stage where we don’t really need to haul all the diaper gear around when taking short trips to the store, so I often just throw a diaper and a pack of wipes in my purse and go. But then we’re still in the stage where extra changes of clothes and snacks are necessary, when venturing out for the day, and I don’t really want to haul an entire baby wardrobe around in my purse, so for those days, I use the diaper bag.
Regardless of what kind of bag carrying day it will be, I have finally found a system that helps make sure I always have the essentials we’ll need – the catch-all bag. I know many of you have been using this little system of separate pouches within your bag for years, but I can be a slow learner.
The pouches I carry around can get pretty beat up and look gross within a couple of months, so I try to carry pouches that can either be cleaned easily, or aren’t really pricey, so I don’t feel bad if I have to toss it after just a few months of use. This pouch came from Prism Boutique and I snagged it at one of their recent sales. The items I’m carting around are pretty self-explanatory, but let’s just name them all anyhow.
Beginning with #1. Kleenex. I actually always carry tissues with me because I’m a proud crier, and often come to tears at church or when chatting with friends or when watching a movie. I cry when I’m happy, sad, excited and tired. Kleenex are an absolute necessity. 2. Lip gloss – my latest favorite color is Chanel #297. 3. Random accessories. These are not essential, but just a fact of life. I seem to inevitably always take off some accessory that Hayden has become obsessed with, and wind up hiding it in my purse. Usually it’s dangly earrings which he loves to tug on, or sparkly bracelets that he loves to wear. I could stop wearing accessories, I know, but I figure he’ll outgrow this obsession eventually, so I’ll just keep testing the waters, waiting for that day to come. In the mean time, at least I know they’re safe when I do store them away. 4. Rubber bands are a must for both Taylor and I, who both end up needing to pull our hair back for one reason or another. 5. Lip Balm of some sort, this one happens to be from Honest and I love it. I keep it on hand for myself and the kids, and love how it works on dry hands and noses. 6. Honest hand sanitizer is one of the only brands I’ve found that doesn’t dry out my hands, and it smells really nice. 7. Sunglasses of course. 8. Pen and paper for note taking, to-do list making, and grocery list writing. 9. Business cards because you never know who you’ll run into. 10. Snacks! For both me and baby. These Mary’s graham crackers are yummy and perfect snack-size.
The Kleenex on-the-go packs are well designed in both form and function. They’re stylish design makes the need for those fabric tissue covers null and void – yes, I used to routinely cover my tissues with handmade tissue covers – I’m serious about my tissue carrying. And they aren’t bulky, so I can slip them in even the smallest of catch-all bags.
Kleenex is celebrating 90 years of providing innovative products with beautiful design to help women meet their everyday needs. For their anniversary, they’ve partnered with style icon Isaac Mizrahi to bring industry-leading designs to their already functional products. You can visit their style website to find a design that’s perfect for you. Tomorrow on March 17th, Kleenex will be hosting a big reveal event at Grand Central Station in NYC to unveil the new brand designs live with Isaac Mizrahi. Consumers can stop by to learn more about Kleenex brand’s 90 year anniversary, see the new designs, and have a chance to win a variety of prizes.
So how do you stay put together and organized when out and about? Do you already do the catch-all system for your bags, or do you shove it all in and hope for the best? Truth be told I actually have become so obsessed with this way of organizing that I now have 2 pouches, 3 if you count my wallet, and I love the way this new system helps me stay a little more organized and a little less frantic.
