52 Weeks To Create Week 11 – The Entryway

I’m on a roll ladies and gents and I can’t be stopped. On a roll for me means that I continue to plan. Some action thrown in, but lots of planning. Having somewhat figured out the gallery wall situation, I spent the week browsing prints and ordering a few that I liked. This week I will focus on getting some new family photos printed up. With the gallery walls on a roll, I have now moved on to getting the entry way project set up and going. With some careful rearranging, I realized that I have most of the pieces for the new entryway already in my possession, and just need a new small chair to sit and put shoes on, and a few large baskets for storage. Here’s the photo I found that finally sparked the set up I’ve been trying to put together. casual entryway Granted my set up won’t look nearly the same, and will really only resemble the long strip of wooden pegs, but inspiration is inspiration, right? I went with wooden pegs as opposed to the metal hooks I see on most entryways, just because I’m accident prone and I can imagine many bodily injuries occurring with metal rods sticking out of my wall.  Wooden dowels though?  I should be safe.  Other inspiring entryways I found.  kendra-smoot-entryway Wooden dowel hooks resembling the ones I will be installing, along with a simple slim line chair. e061387fd9fb315598650c634248a6396397e66a_m Bench for sitting and shoe storage. entryway Beautiful baskets for storage and lots of frames and pretty artwork to greet you when you walk in the door. entry-3 Console table resembling the one I’ll be placing in our entryway, with framed photos and space to place baskets and shoes underneath.  The charming wire basket of vintage balls will be absent though, sadly.

The entryway needs to serve as a place to put on shoes, a place to store mail, keys wallets, sunglasses and purses.  Somewhere to hang backpacks and jackets and shoes, to cut down on the morning rush of running back and forth from room to room.  So while our entryway will be missing some of the decor elements seen in the images above, it will be high on functionality, which at the end of the day, is more important than anything.  With very limited storage in this house, we have to make every inch of it work for us.

I hope to show some reveal photos in the next couple of weeks, and perhaps get an Easter craft thrown in as well.  But for now it feels good to continue to work on our home and help it reach its full potential.  Thanks for following along.

So did you create anything this past weekend?  Please share.

I am recently way too interested in covering my walls with wood. Photo number one is not helping.

Hey! Quick question that’s entirely off topic. Do you know how to make your site mobile friendly?

My site looks weird when viewing from my iphone.
I’m trying to find a theme or plugin that might be able to resolve this
problem. If you have any suggestions, please share. Thank you!
